Population Health Summer Research Fellowship for Medical Students

NYU Langone’s Department of Population Health offers paid research fellowships for NYU Grossman School of Medicine students during the summer after the first year of medical school. The fellowship is a rewarding and educationally challenging opportunity meant for students who are new to research or looking to expand their research experience. All students who are selected as population health summer fellows will receive compensation at an hourly rate commensurate with other NYU Grossman School of Medicine summer fellowship programs for MD students.

As a fellow, you work with a dedicated faculty advisor in one of our six divisions on a rigorous, scholarly research project. Fellows are expected to present their work at a departmental research-in-progress seminar and to lead one session of a weekly journal club with a faculty co-facilitator.

Examples of projects past fellows have worked on include conducting interviews with community health workers for a study of a health coaching program to aid in the prevention of type 2 diabetes, and analyzing U.S. Census and New York City demographic data to understand the ways in which racial segregation affects access to healthy food.

How to Apply

The Office of Medical Education oversees the application and match process. More information can be found in their Summer Research Opportunities handbook  (Kerberos ID required).
